Building a Resilient Yolo: Gathering momentum for our summit

Leading up to our 2022 summit we unveiled a free virtual Resilient Yolo Workshop Series:

  • Introduction to ACEs and Resilience
  • Resilience in Education
  • Resilience and Healthcare
  • Resilience in Families

Resilient Yolo is educating people in Yolo County, CA, about adverse childhood experience (ACEs). Our intent is that everyone in Yolo County integrates trauma-informed and resilience-building practices into their work, family, community and individual lives. Our workshop series explores how we can advance this mission. You can view those recorded workshops below.

Introduction to ACEs and Resilience

 This is the recording of the first workshop in the series: "Introduction to ACEs and Resilience" with Susan Jones, Founder, Creative Behavior Systems, and Tessa Smith, Cultural Competence Coordinator, Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency.

Resilience in Education

 This is the recording of the second workshop in the series: "Resilience in Education"  with Dr. Thomas Herman and Monica Nepomuceno from the California Department of Education, and Chris Aldaco from Woodland Joint Unified.

Resilience and Healthcare

Our workshop, "Resilience and Healthcare," features leaders from CommuniCare Health Centers discussing resilience and trauma-informed practices for patient care and for healthcare workers. Featuring Suzanne Eidson-Ton, MD, Chief Medical Officer; Sara Gavin, LMFT, LPCC, Chief Behavioral Health Officer; and Erika Roshanravan, MD, FAAFP, Family Medicine Physician. 

Resilience in Families

"Resilience in Families," features leaders from First 5 Yolo and Yolo County Children's Alliance discussing the work being done in our region to make families stronger amid the pandemic. 

What is the BRY Summit?

We hosted our annual Building a Resilient Yolo Summit on May 12, 2022, at the Woodland Community and Senior Center. The summit gathers community members, service providers, educators, families, youth, and leaders from across Yolo County to strengthen ideas and strategies to build a more resilient community.
